Sister Rosine Sobczak wore her heart on her sleeve as she shared why she cares for the environment at the SAVE annual awards ceremony. Twenty five years ago she founded SAVE (Science Alliance for Valuing the Environment) at Lourdes University.
This passionate nun knew 25 years ago that she was called to lead others to care for the earth. She shared wisdom that life is not about the money or the fame – it’s about living our purpose. I listened to landowners, volunteers, and educators talk about their impressive environmental actions as they humbly accepted awards.
On behalf of my school, Wildwood Environmental Academy, along with Mrs. Lewin and Mrs. Brimmer, I was proud to accept the Eco-School of the Year Award (see picture below)! This year our teachers have really worked hard on 13 new eco-initiatives!
As I shared an evening with ambitious environmental advocates, I felt a sense of peace. I may not know the details of my career path, but I have something in common with Sister Rosine. No, I am not going to become a nun, but my purpose on this planet is to be a steward of it and to motivate others to care for it. Amen.
