After another blustery Midwest winter, I think we all welcomed this beautiful Spring weekend. On the last hour awake of the weekend, I enjoyed my mom’s company on the deck, as we listened to the evening’s chorus of spring peepers (click here to hear them) and watched the moon brightly illuminate the sky. I am reminiscing to the happy hour that started my weekend – yoga OUTSIDE at It’s Yoga Toledo!
“Feel the sun on your skin,”
“Root your weight to the earth.”
“Listen closely to the sounds of nature,” said Malena, one of my favorite yoga instructors (and friends).
In fact, I tossed my yoga mat behind me and practiced right on the grass. (I’m the only one in the pic above lying directly on the earth). For 90 minutes 12 of us adults practiced yoga on the earth, mindful of connecting our senses (and yoga poses) to the sunny afternoon. We’re never too old to play outside! Yoga is inspired by nature and draws us closer to it! This was my first of many outdoor yoga classes in my journey to teach and learn about the earth!
An hour of outdoor yoga. An hour of listening to spring peepers. Now that’s my kind of happy hour!
